Position Summary for Bookkeeper (CFILC)

Status: This is a regular non-exempt full-time position with excellent non-profit benefits.
Hours: Full-Time
Salary: $21.95 – $25.90 hourly, depending on experience.
Location: Sacramento, CA

Description: Under the direction of the Finance Director, the Bookkeeper is responsible for the following office and bookkeeping functions: ordering office supplies and equipment; completing and overseeing equipment repair orders; answering CFILC’s main office phone line; maintaining overall organizational emergency preparedness plans and procedures; and support to CFILC staff to complete tasks and projects. Bookkeeping tasks include: accounts receivable and payable, processing loan payments, tracking & maintaining CFILC Membership Dues & invoices, bank deposits, journal entries, entering payroll data. They also will assist with processing the monthly claims and billings, tracking funders and volunteer hours and stipends.

This position may include rare travel within California. It is a regular non-exempt, full-time position based in Sacramento, California.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

• Bookkeeping to include recording and depositing incoming cash, checks & credit cards. Recording and tracking event registration, customer & donor invoices;
• Accounts payable to include recording vendor invoices to correct grants in accounting software;
• Accounts receivable to include online credit card transactions, registrations and membership dues;
• Reviews FreedomTech Loan Applications, processes monthly loan statements, reconciles loan payments;
• Maintain confidential files;
• Assist with audit preparation;
• Provides information to employees about benefit plans and options;
• Record & track employee hours by program & grant. Record & track volunteer hours & process stipends;
• Reconcile program timecard hours to payroll service processing;
• Processes payroll, prepares 1099s, maintains payroll service files;
• Enter and maintain database information for various programs;
• Assists employees with benefits enrollment forms, Maintains benefits files and records;
• Maintain sufficient office supplies;
• Ensure proper maintenance & service of office equipment such as computers, printers, photocopier, fax, TTY, postage machine and multi-line phone system;
• Enter and maintain database information for various programs;
• Prepare and track mailings (USPS, UPS, FedEx);
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Qualification Requirements

• Two years’ experience in bookkeeping and office management. One year of College level courses in bookkeeping/accounting may be substituted for one year work experience;
• Ability to use accounting software;
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills;
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, & Outlook;
• Ability to multitask;
• Ability to communicate in a professional manner with all callers, visitors, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish/Cantonese
• American Sign Language
• Personal experience with disabilities

Other Information

The noise level of the office working condition is low to medium and work is mostly indoors.
