  CFILC COMMENTS ON STATE'S MANAGED CARE PLAN FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE DUAL ELIGIBLE

 

California is swiftly moving to managed care models for service delivery of both health care and long-term services and supports. While CFILC has long advocated for integrated care that effectively addresses the needs of the whole person, we also believe that consumers must be actively engaged in developing the new models of care to ensure that they are person-centered, consumer-directed and high in quality. The dual eligible demonstration model will be very important as California's service delivery system changes. These projects will be implemented in 4 to 10 counties during 2013, and over the next few years they are likely to become the model of service delivery statewide. CFILC has submitted formal comments about the demonstration model, arguing for more focus on transitioning people from institutions to the community, more consumer choice and consumer direction of services, more emphasis on housing, and adequate investments in home and community-based services to support people with disabilities to live successfully in communities.
