Job Description
Position: Assistive Technology Specialist
Description:
This position educates ILR consumers and the community about assistive technology, assists ILR consumers in obtaining funding for the technology and provides technical assistance in technology usage.
Responsibilities:
1. Gather, organize and maintain files for various assistive technology information as well as consumer files.
2. Resolve inquiries and make referrals as necessary.
3. Identify underserved populations and their needs and conducts outreach activities to reach persons with disabilities.
4. Work with other ILR staff to ensure that all consumers receive necessary information and support about AT.
5. Conduct a yearly training for staff on AT information and resources.
6. Maintain accurate records and submit timely reports as required.
Skills:
1. Must be a team player yet able to work independently.
2. Must be organized, detail oriented and computer literate.
3. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
4. Must possess good verbal/written communication skills.
5. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
Education/Experience:
Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
Physical Demands:
Sitting for extended periods of time with regular breaks, use of a computer monitor and keyboard and various other office equipment. May need to bend, lift, stretch or otherwise move in ways to connect or check equipment.
