End Medicare Competitive Bidding
On Jan. 1, 2011 Medicare began a competitive bidding program for certain home healthcare equipment and supplies. In the 9 metropolitan areas where it was first rolled out suppliers have been forced out of buisness, hospital stays have lengthened and consumers have been unable to get needed products.
HR 1041 would repeal the bidding program, restoring consumer choice and preventing further damages to the medical system.
End Bullying of Elementary & High School Students
The importance of providing for a safe school environment is the reason that two bills, labeled as the “Safe Schools Improvement Act of 2011” have been introduced in the House of Representatives and the Senate. They are H.R. 1648 by Congresswoman Linda Sanchez of California and S. 506 by Senator Robert Casey of Pennsylvania. They would both enact the “Safe Schools Improvement Act of 2011.
Support the CLASS Program
One of the most important components of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) was the creation of the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Program; a voluntary, Federally-administered and consumer financed voluntary long-term care insurance program.
Congressional Republicans are seeking to pressure the White House to halt implementation of the program, as part of their agenda to undermine and repeal the health care reform law.
Oppose H.R. 3356
H.R. 3356 would further delay the ability to file a lawsuit to bring businesses and restaurants into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It requires every plaintiff to wait an additional 120 days before their lawsuit can be filed.
